What is it about Russian women that is so vastly different from the
fair sex living in western countries that makes foreigners spend
a considerable amount of money to come to Russia to marry a Russian
girl? Some of them come to Russia several times to achieve that
purpose.
The general opinion of many western men is: Russian women are
kinder, more considerate, thriftier and better wives than their
western counterparts, which are according to general opinion and the
general point of view, too materialistic, demanding and spoilt. To a
certain extent this is true. Russian women often look better, are better
dressed, more fashionable, neater, seem kinder and are more
"domestic".
You
can't say that in the west there are no beautiful women. There are,
and a lot of them, but what distinguishes Russian women from western
women is a desire to be womanly. Russian women are full of warmth and
charm. The western women are lovely, smiling and quite friendly,
but they are "cold". Having grown up in a safe society, they have
become too independent and self sufficient. They know for sure what
their rights are and that they do not have to suffer inconveniences.
The first question they ask themselves at the slightest provocation
is: "What is this... do I need to put up with this?
The more beautiful the woman the more she is convinced that she
deserves to be the recipient of the best in life - the best in cars, a
clever and educated husband, high material security and being cared
for in luxury. The western woman is convinced of her value and appeal.
In her home life there is an outpouring of boundless
intolerance.
A Russian woman would not notice any infringement on her rights
where the western woman would have long slammed the door after a hot
quarrel. The western woman would not tolerate a loss of her integrity.
The key is this... there is a distinct difference in the
approach in home life. Whenever there is a disagreement, the western
woman will operate according to her understanding of how to exit any
given situation. When she is convinced she is right she will not
hesitate to act counter to the actions of her husband. Even if she
compromises, she will feel deeply victimized and will not miss the
opportunity for a second to let her husband know it.
For the Russian woman compromise is a style of life. She grins and
bears it. The Russian woman naturally accepts her husbands actions. It
does not mean that she doesn't try to influence them but she will not
reject what her husband does and will always stand by his side.
That is the secret. We are not better, we are not kinder, we are
simply more tolerant. Our personal scale of values simply has more
divisions than the western thermometer and when their western
thermometer fails they crumble and we simply continue to work on
successfully. In general it is a great thing, the skill to accept
people for what they are. Another objectively existing parameter which
is of crucial importance to foreigners is the importance of family in
the life of the woman. Our women naturally put family above career.
The western men call it "adherence to traditional family values".
To no small degree the position of the Russian woman is governed by
decades of the Soviet system. The Soviet woman could not reach high
posts, always it was much easier for men to have the career. The
legislation promoted immersion of the woman in home life: aspiring to
increase birth rate, the state gave to women such long decrial
holidays which are not present anywhere else in the world.
For the western woman a position of housewife is equal in a
rank somewhere at a level of our yard keeper. She is capable to feel
happy, only after having reached a certain professional panicle.
Basically, her life is to struggle - a high professional position
provides a higher level of life.
