Russian women abroad need our protection
The researchers say that the
flow of Russian women going abroad for the purpose of marriage is
constantly increasing. It's not connected with the economical
situation in the Russian Federation; single Russian women use the service of marriage agencies hoping
to find their happiness there. Some of them get what they wanted to,
but the majority of them - not.
Statistic reports that up to 90% of marriages made through marriage
agencies break up in two years, and most of them under the initiative
of the women. The presence of children doesn't stop them; it doesn't
frighten them, because they have a tradition to educate and raise
children alone.
But in practice the process of divorce in the USA is not as easy as in
Russia. If a woman wants to return, as a rule, she is not allowed to
take her child out. The western legislation provides to men equal
rights with women on raising the children.
The only way to leave a child with his mother is through a court. But
Russian women usually lose such cases because they don't have any
legal knowledge. They want to put psychological pressure upon the
judges with hysterics and tears. It usually gives the opposite to the
expected results.
The problem of the marriage migration is closely connected to a
problem of a woman trade, IZVESTIA reports. When a woman leaves her
home hoping to find a better life abroad she can end up in a brothel. It happens more often if a woman is sent there to earn
money as a dancer. Nobody knows the real number of slaves,
because not all of them have a chance to run away. Then they usually
come to the Russian consulates, but they sometimes help and sometimes
not. They can hear the words like: "It's your own problem, you don't
have your documents (women's passports are usually selected) and you
knew, what you were required for".
The people trade today is not a criminal offence because of absence of
such concept in the Criminal Code. But some measures to protect Russian women from
this kind of crime are being looked into today. Soon women will have the possibility to address
these problems in court.
