About older Russian women
Older Russian women are very different.
Some of them are highly intellectual and well educated, have a perfect
life and a strong family. Others are poor and miserable.
A characteristic feature of Russian women is their unique ability to
care about their family and to keep their home cozy and do house work.
They like to spend a lot of time in the kitchen to cook national
Russian dishes, trying to please all the members of their families.
Their home is always comfortable and you feel very safe and secure
inside.
During the period of great changes in Russia in the 90s people needed
to adapt to the new way of life. The generation of the 50s and the 60s
had to face unbelievable challenges. They had an absolutely different
life before, therefore it was very difficult to get used to the new
way of life.
Older Russian women are not as provocative as
young women, although they could dress with style, for example
they would not wear a transparent top and a miniskirt. However, there
is a difference between the women who constantly follow the latest
western styles, and those who still wear the clothes of 1980s. For
example, the women who work at the International airport Sheremetyevo
in Moscow wear a khaki-colored uniform, and it looks very funny
because such uniform was common during the Soviet times.
The majority of Russian women live in city apartments, with their
families and sometimes with their parents or their husbands' parents.
They travel very rarely, except going to their family country house in
the summer if they have one. They usually spend their summer holidays
there with the children. They grow vegetables and fruit, do some
handicraft, bathe and sunbathe on the rivers and lakes.
Many older Russian women like to go hiking
with their families and friends. In contrast to Western Women, they
are used to difficult living conditions. Working in large cities
causes a lot of stress for women. This is why the so-called "soviet
style of work" is still common. They are not very polite and do not
care how much merchandise would be sold because their salary would
still be the same.
Although the well-being of those working in the service sector is very
slow to change nowadays, the people are still learning to provide
better services. Yet if , for an instance, you want to call the
information service of a railway station to find out the departure
time of a train, you are very likely to hear the speaker hang up
immediately after your question has been briefly answered.
In the country the atmosphere is usually much more peaceful, which
makes Russian women more calm and relaxed.
