Meeting face to face

Well, you have enjoyed exchanging e-mail with perhaps many,
chatted online with some, talked on the phone with a few, and are
wondering now if perhaps it is time to meet in person. This is a
natural next step if you have connected with someone through the
other avenues. What is the best way to do this?
The first consideration is a safe meeting place. Pick a public
place, perhaps a halfway point between the two of you, use your own
means of transportation rather than your new friend for the first
meeting. For added safety, tell a friend or family member the
important details of your meeting - who, where, and when you are going
to meet. Check in with them when you arrive at the meeting place,
during the date - tell the person you are meeting that you are
checking in - and after the date before you head back home.
Some details to take care of prior to the meeting include deciding
what the two of you would like to do, who pays? , and if it is long
distance that it requires an overnight stay . . . what is the sleeping
arrangement? Be sure to take enough money to cover your expenses. If
the date turns out to be a bad one, you can pay and leave.
For your first meeting, remember to be yourself. Dress in a way
that is comfortable and appropriate for the activity you? ve chosen .
. . this will make you feel and look good. Be sure to be on time,
being late is rude, and first impressions are so important.
After your meeting, be honest with your date, and don? t say you
will call if you have no intention of doing so. If things went well,

What is the "perfect date"? Talk to your new friend and begin
planning.
Keep in mind, your idea of a perfect date and the other person's
may not be exactly the same. The main thing is to plan something that
sounds enjoyable to both of you, and can accomplish the end result of
meeting face to face. It may feel a little odd when you first try
meeting someone in person that you've only spoken to online or by
phone, but using the safety tips and relaxing and being yourself will
almost certainly result in a positive experience for you.
