Time for the phone?

By Unknown

After E-mailing back and forth on a regular basis, and perhaps having seen a picture, wouldn't it be nice to add a voice to the package? When you meet out in the real world, you get a more complete picture from the start - a face, voice, appearance, and maybe even a friend who gives you more information. With the computer, all you have is what they have given you. How do you feel about them so far? The phone call is the next step to meeting a new friend...or possibly more.

Ready?

Many ladies feel more comfortable getting the guy? s phone number and calling him. In any case, if you don? t want to give your number yet, be sure not to call collect since your number will show up on the other person? s bill.

Note: We have found that many women do not want to call the man first. If he gives his phone number to her, she feels more comfortable giving hers to him, and letting him make the call. Many times they are just as anxious as you are, and want to talk as soon as you both get offline. This is a great feeling, since you are taking the next step in online dating.

You have used the Internet to meet somebody new. Now you are talking on the phone to your new friend. What do you say? What do you do? You are now back in the real world of personal relationships. If it has been a while since you? ve talked to someone new on the phone, you may need some conversation starters. Remember the E-mails that you have saved and/or printed out and re-read?

Talk about it. Once you get going, you will find that, like riding a bike, you can just get back on and enjoy the ride.

Helpful hints as you move from cyberspace to real-life:

* Call at an unexpected time to say hello. Is there an answering machine? Whose voice is on it?

* Make up your own list of topics/questions you? d like to talk about, and use that as a conversation starter.

* As you talk about the email that you have exchanged, do they remember what they told you? Are there significant details that are different? Think of that as a possible RED FLAGS (as discussed in Chapter 9).
